Adequacy of methodologies for determining SCS / CN in a watershed with characteristics of the Pampa biome

The Soil Conservation Service Curve Number Model is a conceptual model intended for estimating effective rainfall (ER). This grounded in parameter – referred to as (CN), which determined from information on the characteristics of watershed. Standard Method (M1) determining CN based soil and land-use tables; however, some authors have proposed alternative methodologies defining value monitored rainfall-runoff events, such those described by Hawkins (1993) (M2), Soulis Valiantzas (2012) (M3), (2013) (M4). objective this study was evaluate impact using these methods determination estimation ER, taking reference forty events between 2015 2018 Cadeia River Watershed, has Pampa biome. different assessed definition resulted contrasting performances with respect ER CRW, following findings: i) M1 gave values little reliability, mainly due classification antecedent moisture content classes; ii) M3 provided best results followed M2; iii) estimated according M4 differed observed, lower depths.
